The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District competitively awarded the project to complete a full depth excavation, repair, grading, compaction, and replacement of the emergency access road to the dam. This project and work will not affect park operations nor impede traffic flow at the park. Vazquez will perform the work during a short period to limit the potential for interfering with recreational guests accessing the park.
Vazquez Commercial Contracting will completely remove the existing, deteriorating roadway and make repairs to the subsurface before adding new aggregate, compacting the surface, and repaving a new road surface. Vazquez will excavate, load, transport, and safely dispose of the old pavement surface at a nearby facility, over the next 240 days. When the project is complete, the US Army Corps of Engineers and Ohio State Parks will enjoy easier access for maintenance and monitoring of the East Fork Lake Dam. Careful planning and post construction monitoring will ensure this project work doesn’t interfere with Clermont County’s native species and wildlife.
“We are excited to receive another USACE award and continue our growth and market position in Greater Cincinnati. This is a fairly routine project for us and like many of our civil projects, it happens without public awareness. However, these are vital and necessary infrastructure improvement projects supporting the safe functioning and maintenance of the East Fork Lake Dam. We are extremely grateful the USACE and Cincinnati Community trusts Vazquez with the safe and effective performance of this routine work. We are delighted to continue performing work across the Cincinnati region, the regional office location for VCC’s Ohio River Valley & Great Lakes offices” said Joe Vazquez, President of Vazquez Commercial Contracting.
